About US
Melrose Festival is run by a dedicated committee of around fifteen people, who give up their time on a voluntary basis, simply because they appreciate the history and tradition of the town. They are fortunate to have a wide range of ages (and life experiences) represented on the committee, spanning six decades, with the youngest member being in their twenties. This allows for a wealth of experience and opinions to ensure that the Festival manages to move with the times whilst still retaining the important aspect of honouring our rich heritage.
Can You Help Us?
Melrose Festival is fortunate to receive an annual grant of £3,800 from Scottish Borders Council; an amount set over 20 years ago. Unfortunately, this is not enough to cover the cost of our Insurance premium (at almost £5,000), without which we simply could not have our week of festivities. In addition, there are many other significant expenses and we rely heavily on our Patrons' and other donations in order to fund our community events, the majority of which we provide free of charge. We strongly believe that it is important that everyone can join in our events, so there are no entry fees. Finances can be tight for everyone but, if you feel that you can support us financially to whatever amount, it would be very much appreciated.

Under Data Protection, we require permission in order to publish names of those who support us financially. Should you wish your name to be included in the Patrons' list in next year's brochure, please email your consent to helenbchis@btinternet.com or include a note along with your donation. If you already support us in this manner, thank you. We could not run the Festival without your generosity. There is also the informal method, if you do not wish to be a Patron - you can pop cash into one of our collecting tins which will be available during Festival Week.
VOLUNTEERING
We welcome volunteers to come along and help us. Each convenor has a group of helpers and, at times, we need to have extra helping hands. If you feel that this is something which would interest you, please email melrosefestival@hotmail.co.uk or, if you know someone who is already involved, feel free to speak to them.
