Rider`s Code of Conduct:

  • All riders participate at their own risk

  • P1-P5 children must be supervised by an adult

  • Riders must collect and wear a ribbon (only riders with a suitable protective helmet will be issued with a ribbon and acknowledged by the Melrose Festival Executive as being on the community bike ride)

  • Riders to remain behind the Melrosian, LHM, RHM, & Lead cyclists at all times

  • Riders to follow Police and marshals’ instructions at all times

  • Riders must abide by the `Highway Code` and stay on designated route or ride on pavements

  • Riders must ride safely and respect other riders and members of the public

      Temporary road closures are indicated on the map.

​The following roads will be closed to vehicular traffic on the 17th June 2026 between the hours of 17:30 and 20:00.

These closures will only come into effect at such times when under the instruction of a police officer in uniform and appropriate signing is in place.

  • High Street – from Police Station to Market Square

  • Buccleuch Street

  • Abbey Street – from Buccleuch Street to Market Square

  • Market Square

  • East Port

  • High Road

  • Dean Road, Newstead

  • Back Road, Newstead 

  • Main Street, Newstead 

  • Annay Road

  • Chainbridge Road

  • Hoebridge Road East, from Bakers Road to The Suspension Bridge

  • Bakers Road, Gattonside

  • Main Street, Gattonside

  • B6360 – from Main Street, Gattonside to B6374

  • B6374 – from its junction with the B6360 to its junction with Abbotsford road, Darnick

  • Abbotsford Road, Darnick

  • Chiefswood Road at its junction with High Cross Avenue

  • High Cross Avenue
